2027 Range Rover vs. Jeep Grand Wagoneer Comparison with Price, Specs, & Photos

Range Rover VS Jeep Grand Wagoneer - Land Rover North Hills

For a long time, the Range Rover existed in a segment all by itself. Other full-size luxury SUVs existed, but none were built by companies that were so focused on off-road prowess. But now Jeep has brought out the Grand Wagoneer, and finally, there is something to compare the Range Rover to. Obviously, there is a bit of a price difference here, but this is less of a factor with higher trims of the Grand Wagoneer, and we’re not focusing on minutiae like whether or not heated seats are standard.

One of the more noteworthy advantages of the Range Rover is all of the different configuration options available. While both vehicles are offered in two different wheelbase lengths, only the Range Rover has the option of a long wheelbase with a deleted third row to make room for reclining second-row seats. Both vehicles come with a 3.0-liter inline-six as standard. The Grand Wagoneer makes a bit more power, 420 horsepower versus 395 horsepower in the Range Rover. However, the Range Rover is also offered with a 543-horsepower plug-in hybrid drivetrain, a 523-horsepower twin-turbo V8, or a high-output 606-horsepower twin-turbo V8. There is no optional drivetrain for the Grand Wagoneer. And while it’s normal for American brands to offer a pretty limited range of colors, the seven options available for the Grand Wagoneer look especially abysmal when compared to the range of 31 colors offered for the Range Rover, and that’s not even counting the special colors offered for the Range Rover SV Ultra.

The Range Rover offers considerably more interior color options, but that’s practically a given at this point, so we’re going to focus on the options that aren’t even available on the Grand Wagoneer. The first is that you can choose your own trim material, and then you can take it further with options like metal inlays or marquetry. If you don’t like the leather covering on the gearshift, you can have ceramic in the Range Rover. And although the 19-speaker McIntosh stereo system available for the Grand Wagoneer is nothing to scoff at, it’s the 35-speaker Meridian system available for the Range Rover that will really satisfy the audiophile in your life.

Looks are a subjective thing, but there’s no denying that these two brands took a different approach to styling. The looks of the Grand Wagoneer are quite utilitarian, based as they are on the more mainstream, but now-discontinued, Wagoneer. Off-road features like all-wheel drive and height-adjustable air suspension aren’t standard on the Grand Wagoneer, and it’s possible that the designers were attempting to overcompensate a bit with the rugged bodywork. Whatever the reason, the Grand Wagoneer doesn’t transition from driving through mud to a night out on the town with quite the same grace as the Range Rover.

Winner – Range Rover

While the Grand Wagoneer and the Range Rover might have been built for similar purposes, it’s clear that the Jeep doesn’t take this idea nearly as far as the Range Rover does. The Grand Wagoneer might have presence, but it lacks the sense of occasion and the refinement of the Range Rover. The Range Rover also offers a ton of customization options, and that’s why it’s so helpful to have a dealership like Land Rover North Hills to help you find the Range Rover that perfectly fits your tastes.
