To keep things simple, we’re comparing the base trim of each vehicle here. Both vehicles come with all-wheel drive and a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, and they produce the same amount of torque, but the Range Rover Sport still enjoys a horsepower advantage. Towing capacity is essentially identical, but the extra cargo space in the Range Rover Sport gives it a bit of a practicality advantage.

Given the fact that the Q8 has a bit of a price advantage, it’s expected that the Range Rover Sport would come with more standard equipment, but the difference is actually much greater than you might expect. Starting with the seats, you get standard front seat ventilation with the Range Rover Sport, as well as seat memory for both the driver and passenger. The Range Rover Sport is big on safety features as well, including standard real-time weather information. It also has seatbelt pretensioners for both the front and back seats, as opposed to just the front. The availability of a digital rearview mirror as an option on the Range Rover Sport highlights another advantage: Audi forces you to upgrade trims for most equipment upgrades, while the Range Rover Sport offers a much wider range of individual options and packages. Making it much easier to dial in exactly what you want on your vehicle. You’ll notice a significantly better stereo in the Range Rover Sport, specifically a Meridian system with 15 speakers. And you also have a bigger screen to go with that stereo, making it easier to see and operate.

Winner – Range Rover Sport

The Q8 accomplishes its goal of being more stylish than the Q7, but it falls short when compared to the segment leader, the Range Rover Sport. The capability, refinement, and yes, style of the Range Rover Sport give it an undeniable lead over the Q8. To fully appreciate this advantage, the Range Rover Sport needs to be experienced in person. Land Rover North Hills can help with that, as well as finding the Range Rover Sport that’s just right for you.
